ISO Certification of Local Government Institutions is one of major consultancy works of KILA. The ISO certification project aimed to develop a quality management system that ensures citizen satisfaction through good governance and delivery of high standard quality services and thwreby achieve ISO 9001:2015 Certification. It is with this vision; local self government department has initiated the project.

In 2018 KILA has been appointed as the ISO Certification Consultancy for Gramapanchayats. KILA appointed District Coordinators with professional qualification in all the districts to coordinate the activities of the certification. Under KILA consultancy, through rigourous training, capacity building and onsite support, Grama Panchayats started achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2019. Inspired by the change happening in Grama panchayats, Block Panchayats also inititated ISO Certification project under KILA consultancy and achieved ISO certification for all 152 block panchayats in Kerala by the end of 2019.This project has significantly improved Service Delivery, accuracy in submission of applications, speed of file processing, RTI response time, Record retrieval, and ultimately Citizen Satisfaction. 939 Grama panchayats, 152 Block Panchayats, 6 District Panchayats, 9 Deputy Director of Panchayat office and Panchayat Director office have been successfully certified till date. The urban local bodies have already started the project and is in Phase 1. Appraising the changes in Local Government institutions, revenue department has also decided to achieve ISO certification for all offices. The consultancy for this work is also entrusted with KILA. The Kottayam collector office has initiated the process.
